Home Depot Earnings Lifted By Housing Rebound, Sandy

The continued rebound in housing and a rush for disaster supplies ahead of Hurricane Sandy drove Home Depot's third-quarter sales and profit past analyst forecasts Tuesday. And post-storm cleanup and rebuilding should lift fourth-quarter results. The home improvement giant earned 74 cents a share, backing out costs from closing some stores in China.
