Garrett A. Screws, Jr. has been named manager of US governmental relations for Novozymes effective October 1. In this role, Screws will be responsible for establishing and maintaining long term relationship with state and federal government as well as trade organizations in the United States, advocating the company's positions on legislative issues that influence and advance industrial biotechnology business.

Since 1991 Screws has proven successful as a regional marketing manager for the Americas, as an account manager, international marketing and technical service professional as well as scientist for Novozymes. Before his term at Novozymes, he held project leadership positions while a chemist with Cone Mills Corporation and Microfibres South. Screws' achievements include developing strategic programs to achieve positive results for international expansion, setting up distribution networks in Latin America and product positioning and launches.
Screws received his Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University. He holds 15 international patents.
