Calling All Knuckleheads ... Show Us Your Stuff
Making it that much easier for the world's young adults to show off their personal and favorite inane and insane videos, National Lampoon (AMEX:NLN) today announced the launch of KnuckleheadVideo.com, a user-generated video site that also features the best of social networking.
KnuckleheadVideo.com's content is categorized in three areas: extreme "sports," with sports loosely defined as the kind of painful pratfalls and face plants that young adults can't seem to get enough of; drunken debauchery; and the self-explanatory, "show us your butts." To help make the point of what constitutes the categories, the site will feature new, exclusive and never-seen videos from writer/director Sam Maccarone and his oddball crew, including footage from the upcoming "National Lampoon's TV: The Movie," due out later this year and starring Maccarone, Steve-O and the rest of their gang from the "Jackass" cast.
"KnuckleheadVideo.com needs to be the first place Internet viewers turn to for truly knuckleheaded behavior captured on video," National Lampoon Chief Executive Officer Daniel Laikin said, "and nobody knows the knuckleheaded like National Lampoon. This is our long-awaited jump into the user-generated content and social network arena, and we are excited to be here."
KnuckleheadVideo.com launches this month in partnership with the Lions Gate's release of "National Lampoon's Dorm Daze 2" on DVD. The picture, which officially streets on September 5, is sponsoring a contest on the new site, providing winners with an opportunity to win a walk-on role in an upcoming National Lampoon picture and a trip for two to Spring Break in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
National Lampoon will also feature a Knucklehead Video channel on their TogaTV.com broadband channel, featuring the best, most popular and advertiser-friendly videos uploaded to the site.
The site is built on the platform and architecture created by KickApps, a hosted platform that provides KnuckleheadVideo.com the resources to quickly and easily deploy user-generated content and social networking functionality without reinventing and recreating technology investments and development.
