Wal-mart is placing China at the center of its plans to fund research focused on sustainable business and supply chains, as well as to increase the standards of its sourcing and producing design. The Wal-mart Foundation is granting $2 million to The Sustainability Consortium to set up an office in China to study how best to stimulate the growth of sustainable business, and to develop reporting tools and metrics designed to measure sustainability.
Darden Restaurants has placed 198th on the Newsweek list that ranks the best environmental performers among the country’s largest publicly traded companies. Darden improved 50 spots in its rating, which analyzed 500 companies.
