Insurance Arm Lifts Loews Over Weak Drilling Revenue
The diversified conglomerate Loews (L) reported better-than-expected results Monday, with higher earnings at its CNA Financial (CNA) insurance arm more-than-offsetting weaker earnings at its offshore drilling subsidiary. Loews posted adjusted earnings per share of 45 cents, up 2% from a year ago, according to Thomson Reuters. Analysts were expecting EPS of 72 cents. Revenue rose 8% to $3.72 billion.
