SOURCE: 3BL Media, LLC

DESCRIPTION:

Wal-Mart will offer free heart and spine surgeries at six major health centers to its U.S. workers and their families. Starting in January, workers and their dependents who are enrolled in Wal-Mart’s medical plans will receive free care for certain heart and spinal procedures, along with travel, lodging, and food for the patient and a caregiver.

Accenture and the Accenture Foundations have awarded $750,000 to the Harold P. Freeman Patient Navigation Institute to launch a new program in 35 locations across the country. The program will focus on Patient Navigator selection, skills-building and job readiness. The gran builds on a 2011 donation of cash and in-kind support of $875,000, which supported PNI’s pilot program in Cleveland.
