Walsall: The number of new companies in Walsall has risen sharply during the first six months of the year, according to Companies House data gathered and published by Duport.co.uk. Between January and June there were 284 companies formed, a huge rise compared to the 187 formations that took place during the same period in 2011. Further information on company formations is available in the full Duport Business Confidence at http://www.duport.co.uk/walsall.
The rise in new company formations could be due to Walsall Council investing £100,000 to launch a new era of commercial enterprise in the town. Landlords with vacant units are being asked to contribute their properties to the scheme in a bid to attract new business to Walsall and boost public and private sector growth. A number of financial incentives are now being put together to support start-ups and develop existing businesses.
The Council’s Deputy Leader, Councillor Adrian Andrew, said:
“We have been given a chance to create a legacy for economic well-being, providing investors, shoppers and visitors to Walsall with an attractive, busy, successful town centre.”
Managing Director of Duport.co.uk, Peter Valaitis said:
“The rising number of new company formations in the first half of the year is excellent news for the economy of Walsall. Each new business will bring more employment and prosperity to the area and benefit Walsall as a whole.”
