Morgan Stanley, Verizon, Microsoft in focus
Wall Street pointed a bit lower after U.S. claims for unemployment benefits rose more than analysts expected. Also in focus are a raft of earnings reports, including from Nokia Corp., Verizon Communications Inc. and Morgan Stanley, and a leading-indicators report is still to come. Europe stocks were little changed. Asia gained on the Chinese economic-growth report. The dollar and U.S. Treasury securities were higher.
