Stock Futures Point to Higher Open as Earnings Take Off with Goldman Sachs (GS) and Coca-Cola (KO) on the move

Stock futures are pointing to a higher open this morning, with market sentiment on earnings season boosted by better-than-expected results from Citigroup (C) yesterday, plus strong data from Germany earlier today. Earnings season kicks into higher gear today with investor attention focused on results from bellwether companies like Goldman Sachs (GS), International Business Machines (IBM), Intel (INTC) and Coca-Cola (KO). More economic data is also due out today, with the Labor Department releasing the September Consumer Price Index (CPI) before the market open with analysts expecting the index to rise 0.5 percent, compared with a gain of 0.6 percent in August.
