Stocks pared earlier gains and ended little changed this afternoon, as enthusiasm over upbeat economic data faded. Major averages are on pace for their biggest weekly drop in more than four months. On the economic front, weekly jobless claims hitting their lowest level since February 2008, according to the Labor Department.
