The new Midfield Terminal Complex at Southwest Florida International Airport in Ft. Myers, Florida, was recently awarded the Airport Project of the Year from the Florida Department of Transportation. Dick Corporation served as the general contractor for the construction of the new 762,000 square foot complex along with a remote chiller plant. The terminal complex contains 28 aircraft gates along three concourses.
The award is presented annually to the project that demonstrates exceptional professional skills and represents a significant contribution to airport development, sustainability, efficiency, capacity and/or safety. Factors taken into consideration include:

-- Challenges presented by the project;
-- Demonstration resourcefulness in planning;

-- Benefits to the physical environment and aesthetic values;

The award was presented at the Florida Airport Council banquet in the early part of August.
