Moskowitz, the company's President and CEO, has received from the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) a Distinguished Life Membership Award in recognition of his service to the society and his role in promoting structural ceramics in both academic and commercial settings. The award, one of only three such awards given this year, was presented yesterday in Pittsburgh on the occasion of ACerS's 114th annual meeting.
For several years Moskowitz served on ACerS's President's Council of Industrial Advisors and more recently helped create the society's Ceramic Leadership Summit meeting series. He also played a role in supporting the International Federation on Ceramics and the International Commission on Glass. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Ceramic Society and the National Institute of Ceramic Engineers.
Moskowitz, who with a $5,000 investment co-founded Ceradyne in 1967, now heads a company with multiple research and manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada, Germany and China.
