Stock Futures Point to Muted Open Ahead of Housing Data with Carnival (CCL) and Google (GOOG) on the move

First look... Stock futures pointed to a flat open this morning ahead of the release of housing and oil inventory data. The U.S. Commerce Department will issue home sales data for August after the open, measuring sales of new, single-family houses. Housing data out yesterday surprised to the upside, with the S&P/Case Shiller composite index of 20 metropolitan areas showing house prices edged higher for the sixth consecutive month in July. In addition, the Federal Housing Finance Agency's monthly home price index gained for the seventh straight month in July.
