Baltimore Technology Park Joins Leading Business Continuity and Contingency Planning Organization
Association of Contingency Planners Central Maryland Chapter to Host Meeting at BTP to Discuss Local Threats to Businesses and Contingency Planning, Followed by Tour of Data Center

BALTIMORE, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Baltimore Technology Park (BTP), a premier data center and the largest carrier-neutral facility in the state of Maryland, today announced that it has joined the Association of Contingency Planners (ACP) Central Maryland Chapter, the premier international organization for Business Continuity professionals.

A non-profit trade association, the ACP brings together Business Continuity planners and Crisis Management professionals from various industries to exchange information and develop local response and recovery plans. The 54 members of the ACP Central Maryland Chapter represent all types of industries -- from security, government and technology to emergency, first response and crisis management -- but are usually in charge of, or involved with, Continuity Planning, Disaster Recovery or the Continuity of Operations. The group's goal is to limit the impact of future crises on organizations in the greater Baltimore area by providing a forum for organizations to initiate partnerships and preparedness discussions.

The media and business community are invited to join ACP members and BTP staff for a highly informative and interactive roundtable discussion about potential threats to businesses in Baltimore and Disaster Recovery plans. These risks include the potential for damage to the City's key transportation arteries, natural disasters, the loss of a utility and the potential for collateral damage from nearby Washington, D.C., due to a terrorist attack. Several presentations will be given on 'Disaster Recovery 101' -- the basics of implementing a Disaster Recovery program, as well as 4-5 different recovery methods.

The meeting will take place at Baltimore Technology Park from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. on September 13th. After the meeting, attendees will enjoy a tour of BTP's state-of-the-art data center, which is designed to support the colocation of critical IT and infrastructure equipment. BTP is located at 1401 Russell Street in Baltimore. Media interested in attending should contact Kent Streeb at 530.908.9225 or via email at kent@kayacom.com. Other guests should RSVP to Daniel Sadler of ACP Central Maryland via email at Daniel.Sadler@constellation.com

"Baltimore Technology Park is honored to join the ACP and lend its services and expertise to help businesses protect their data and operations," said Jeana Chaffin, director of product marketing for BTP. "Whether a company needs to host or backup their data, or use us as part of their Disaster Recovery plan, BTP can help the region's business community limit the risk and cost of potential disruptions."

"The ACP is pleased to see the need for data center services in the greater Baltimore area being met by Baltimore Technology Park," said Blaise D'Ambrosio, vice president, ACP Central Maryland, and business continuity manager at T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. "Contingency planning is critical to the success of business and government agencies. Emergency managers and business continuity planners alike can benefit greatly from the discourse that occurs at ACP meetings."
