Cederick Tardy Writes to Mothers Raising Boys Providing Solutions in His New Book The Seven Secrets
PR Log - Sep 21, 2012 - Army Veteran turned author Cederick Tardy offers clarity for mothers searching for insightful perspective on raising their sons to be men in his new book The Seven Secrets: The Manual for Raising Boys to Men (http://bit.ly/SFcTZl). Cederick’s inspiration for The Seven Secrets developed from his time coaching mothers and dozens of interviews with extremely successful mothers.
Cederick’s childrearing perspective couldn’t be timelier. Have you seen the stories of mothers and sons who haven’t learned to work together, such as Ohio boys swipe mom’s BMW, drive 650 miles to Kansas City (http://bit.ly/NESM0h).
The PBS documentary Raising Cain: Boys in Focus, hit the issues head on stating boys are 15% more likely to be imprisoned than girls, and they account for nearly 85% of all teen suicides.
Cederick grew up with his mother in Houston, TX. After his parents divorced his behavior grew progressively worse right underneath his mother’s nose as she worked tirelessly to provide. After hitting rock bottom at 19, Cederick says he finally got clarity. In 2006, he wrote a letter to his mother that became the framework for his first book, The Big Payback.
Black Enterprise Magazine ran a full page story on his journey in 2007, which helped the book gain national exposure. BLACK ENTERPRISE, stated, “Let me start with the bottom line: Every single mother faced with the daunting task of raising a male child from boy to man should read this book.”
The Seven Secrets differs from The Big Payback and many other books on the topic by providing the mother and son with a long-term vision for their lives. Mothers can pair their book with the lessons in Cederick’s book for young men, A Flying Start (http://bit.ly/Vh48bC). The ultimate goal is open communication and teamwork. Both books are tied to sixteen highly informative free videos providing additional value.
Cederick says the seven secrets are:
• Start with Self-confidence • Provide Your Team with the Best Resources • [Re]Establish Trust and Communicate Effectively • Establish Rules Without the Rebellion • Prime Your Son’s Self-reliance • Create The Family Vision and an Implementation Plan • Progress Through Teamwork
Prior to or in the early stages of puberty is when mothers have their best shot at making a long-term impact on their developing son’s behavior patterns and life strategy. This is not the time for haphazard application of How To’s from a favorite blog. Cederick reminds mothers that life has changed dramatically in the last six years. Young men who are not aware of the best practices to make it in this era are being left behind.
A percentage of the proceeds from sales of these books go to the S.T.R.O.N.G. Association. This association’s goal is to create 500-600 mother and son home-based businesses in the state of Texas.
