PR Log - Sep 20, 2012 - George C. Thomas has a profound understanding of Barack Obama, Jr.; an understanding developed through first hand interactions with the President’s family, and extensive research about President Obama himself, which led Thomas to write “We Are the Change that We Seek: The Battles, Torments, and Triumphs of President Barack Obama in Leading a Nation Hungering for Change."
Thomas’ book gives readers a chance to see what he sees - how an ordinary man became the President of the United States. Chronologically, Thomas depicts President Obama's rise to presidency up to the current election. Readers are able to see how a man plagued with the mistakes of his predecessor, the harsh racism that has accompanied his journey, and the new responsibility of being leader of the free world, was able to rise to the occasion with confidence and discipline, but most importantly, hope. President Obama has come so far during a short time, from overcoming the decisions of the Bush Era to seeking out justice for the American people by ensuring Osama bin Laden was no longer a threat, all the while making sure Americans remember that this is “a land of immigrants, of people with different nationalities, origins and religions, and now different lifestyles.” Thomas sees a man with a vision, a strong and decisive leader who is optimistic about America’s restoration. He sees a man who needs America to believe that the change they want is possible, and it is not only the duty of the government, but the duty of all American citizens as well.
George C. Thomas is a graduate of Spicer Memorial College, Pune, India, and the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University. He has served as department head, project director and executive director affiliated with various U.S. universities, medical centers and nonprofit service organizations. He has also served as Chief Advisor of economic development for the U.S. Agency for International Development -- Dominican Republic operations. He is currently semi-retired and occasionally teaches public health, business administration and marketing in San Diego and at Universidad CETYS, Mexicali, Mexico.
