New York Manufacturing Contracts, Markets Fall
The markets extended its losses during the midday with the Dow falling 38 points to 13,554 as manufacturing activity in New York contracted. Nasdaq lost 12 points to 3174.
On the upside
A federal court ruled in favor of Jazz Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: JAZZ) after holding a Markman hearing.
Rosetta Genomics (Nasdaq: ROSG) will host a business update conference call on Tuesday, October 2, 2012.
Shares of Renewable Energy Group (Nasdaq: REGI) soared after the Environmental Protection Agency increased the renewable volume obligation for 2013 to 1.28 billion gallons.
On the downside
A Motley Fool article said that investors should not buy Pandora Media (NYSE: P).
Motley Food warned investors to avoid Majesco Entertainment (Nasdaq: COOL).
Nvidia (Nasdaq: NVDA) mobile business division general manager Mike Rayfield left the chip maker to join an undisclosed company.
In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of more than 2 to 1 on the NYSE and by more than 5 to 3 on Nasdaq. The Russell 2000 which tracks small cap stocks dropped 6 points to 858.
