Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. (NYSE: VRX) will pay a premium of approximately $2.6 billion in cash to acquire Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp. (NYSE: MRX). Shares of Valeant leaped $7.72 to $58.99 while Medicis stock jumped $12.01 to $43.57.
