New Voicemail Intercept Solution "Grabs Back" Calls in Route to Voicemail; Solutions Packages Increase Productivity and Reduce Costs
NewStep Networks, Inc., the market and technology leader in convergence solutions for carriers and enterprises today introduced Voicemail Intercept as part of its fixed-mobile convergence solutions packages. Voicemail Intercept enables users to grab back a call already in route to voicemail by simply pushing one button on either their desk or mobile phone, alleviating the frustration of missing calls, retrieving messages from voicemail and then spending additional time returning calls. This new feature saves employees and enterprises valuable time and helps increase worker productivity.
In addition, NewStep Networks also unveiled three solutions packages developed for service providers as well as enterprises. These three comprehensive service solutions include the FlexConnect Solution, the Enterprise Mobility Solution and the Total Mobility Solution.
"In our increasingly mobile world, where people are demanding communication to be immediate and productive, retrieving a call from voicemail, returning the call, and sometimes playing 'phone tag' for days, drains valuable company time and personal resources," said Craig Gosselin, chief marketing officer for NewStep Networks. "NewStep Networks designed Voicemail Intercept and our three new service solutions packages in order to meet these user demands, and also address service providers' need to fully-leverage their capital investments and offer comprehensive, retentive services across diverse networks."
A Tier 1 fixed service provider has already rolled out fixed-mobile convergence services based on NewStep Networks solutions. Initially targeted at enterprise customers, these services give mobile workers the following features: the ability to move calls between mobile and fixed-line phones with the press of one button; single local number for wireline and wireless services; simultaneous ring to multiple devices; dual-mode Wi-Fi and cellular seamless call handoff; and user management capability via the Web.
"We are seeing service providers increasing their momentum in the move to offer fixed-mobile convergence services," said Graham Finnie, senior analyst at Heavy Reading. "Their customers are demanding flexibility, and service providers want to be able to offer a range of well-targeted solutions that meet the needs of different market segments."
The FlexConnect Solution enables enterprises and service providers to reap the benefits that service-level convergence provides today, including improved productivity, cost-reduction and improved communications without requiring the replacement of existing equipment, or the purchase of special dual-mode handsets, as not all service providers and enterprises are ready for dual-mode, cellular/Wi-Fi solutions.
-- One Button Transfer - Moves an active call from a mobile to a fixed phone, or from a fixed to a mobile phone, without disruption, with the push of a button. Incoming calls to mobile phones can also be moved to the office or home phone with just the push of a button.
-- Single Number Service - Rings multiple phones of any type--fixed or mobile, IP or TDM, home or office--when the single number is dialed. The call can be answered on any device.
-- Single Voicemail - Consolidates multiple mailboxes into a single enterprise-based voicemail box across mobile and enterprise networks.
-- Voicemail Intercept - Enables users to retrieve a call from voicemail with just the push of a button and talk directly to the caller while he or she is still on the line.
-- Automatic Reconnect - Holds a broken call until reception is restored and then lets the user resume the conversation with the push of a button.
Enterprise Mobility Solution
The Enterprise Mobility Solution begins with all the features of the FlexConnect Solution and adds enhanced features designed specifically for enterprise environments, including Optimal Call Routing, which solves the number one issue many enterprises with a mobile workforce face today--exorbitantly high international roaming charges.
-- PBX Extension Services - Transforms existing mobile phones into an extension of the company IP PBX with simultaneous ringing, and abbreviated dialing capabilities.
-- Optimal Call Routing - Reduces long distance and roaming charges by forwarding calls over the enterprise IP backbone to hop-off points near the destinations. Long distance calls, even international calls, become "local" calls and are charged at local rates.
Total Mobility Solution
The Total Mobility Solution incorporates all the features of the FlexConnect Solution and the Enterprise Mobility Solution and adds support for dual-mode cellular/Wi-Fi handsets.
-- Dual Mode Handoff - Enables users to move seamlessly and transparently between cellular service and Wi-Fi service in the home, office, hotel room or neighborhood hot spot; constantly monitors cellular and Wi-Fi networks and switches modes automatically as users cross between coverage areas.
