Mixed Close As Gas Prices Rise
Rising gas prices tempered enthusiasm over an upbeat housing report. The market closed mixed with the Dow slipping 21 points to 13,102 while Nasdaq added 3 points to 3077.
On the upside
A Seeking Alpha contributor wrote yesterday that shares of Nam Tai Electronics (NYSE: NTE) had the potential to double by the end of the year.
Quicksilver Resources (NYSE: KWK) the completion of Price Ranch #1 well in the Delaware Basin and the eight-well pad in the Horn River Basin.
PVH (NYSE: PVH) reported higher second quarter earnings that beat analyst expectations and lifted its full year outlook.
On the downside
TheStreetSweeper issued a negative research report on Tangoe (Nasdaq: TNGO). The lockup period for Yelp (NYSE: YELP) expires tomorrow.
A Seeking Alpha contributor questioned the strength of Ampio Pharmaceuticals' (Nasdaq: AMPE) pipeline.
In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of more than 9 to 7 on the NYSE and by more than 7 to 5 on Nasdaq. The Russell 2000 which tracks small cap stocks rose 3 points to 814.
