Aerojet Names Arthur "Gene" Goldman as its Southeast Space Operations Lead

SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE:GY) company, announced today that on Aug. 6, 2012, Gene Goldman will join Aerojet to lead the company's Southeast Space Operations.

Goldman has been the acting center director at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) in Huntsville, Ala. since March 2012, when Robert Lightfoot began his assignment as NASA acting administrator at NASA Headquarters. Previously, Goldman served as MSFC's deputy director and as the center director at NASA's Stennis Space Center.

Goldman began his career with NASA supporting the Space Shuttle Main Engine project at MSFC in various capacities. Before joining NASA in 1990, he worked in the nuclear power industry after completing his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Mississippi State University.

As Aerojet's executive director for its Southeast Space Operations, Goldman will lead and manage the continued growth of the company's Southeast business presence. In the past year, Aerojet has increased the size of its Huntsville operations and established strategic partnerships for propulsion manufacturing with both Teledyne Brown Engineering of Huntsville, Ala. and Florida Turbines Technology of Jupiter Beach, Fla. Aerojet is also currently supporting test operations of its AJ26 engine at Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Miss. and in the near future at Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Va. as part of Orbital Sciences Corporation's Antares program.

Goldman will collaborate with government agencies, industry and academia to identify opportunities and partnerships which may create synergies in facilities utilization, technical expertise and expansion of Aerojet programs throughout the Huntsville area.

"As we look to future growth opportunities, the Huntsville area and the Southeast region are areas of great opportunities with their robust technical workforce, business friendly climate and existing infrastructure. We are pleased to have Gene join our company to lead this effort," said Scott Seymour GenCorp CEO and Aerojet President. "His background and reputation in these communities, his management experience and his familiarity with propulsion are an ideal combination for us."

"Gene brings a tremendous amount of industry expertise to the team," said Aerojet Space and Launch Systems Vice President, Julie Van Kleeck. "All of us welcome him and look forward to continuing our commitment to our Southeast customers and partners. I am very pleased that Gene will have an initial focus in the Space and Launch Systems area, continuing our efforts on bringing propulsion design and manufacturing to the Huntsville and the southeast regions."
