H&R Block shares jump but sector gains muted

H&R Block Inc. shares took a turn atop the S&P 500’s best performers’ list on Wednesday, adding almost 5% and leading the sector higher after it reported quarterly results and said it has bought back 8% of its outstanding stock since January.
