El Paso Corporation (NYSE:EP): El Paso Pipeline Partners, L.P., a Delaware limited partnership formed by El Paso Corporation (NYSE:EP), recently announced that it had decided to purchase the remaining 14% interest in Colorado Interstate Gas Company, L.L.C. and all of Cheyenne Plains Investment Company, L.L.C., which owns Cheyenne Plains Gas Pipeline Company, L.L.C. from El Paso Corporation in exchange of US$635 million and the assumption of roughly US$242 million of proportional debt. In addition, according to the report El Paso Corporation announced on May 17, El Paso Corporation will be replaced by Kinder Morgan, Inc. in the S&P 500 index after the close of trading on May 24. Kinder Morgan is purchasing El Paso in a deal expected to be completed on or about that date, pending final conditions. By market close, El Paso shares closed higher by 1.51% to US$29.54 with more than 19.16 million shares traded, compared to its average volume of 8.68 million shares. The stock has been moving within a range of US$16.30 - US$30.86 over the past 52 weeks.
