A new name has appeared in the world of high-performance analog semiconductors and best-in-class sensor solutions with the announcement today by austriamicrosystems that “ams” will be its new company brand. “The new brand name, “ams,” unites austriamicrosystems and the brand and identity of TAOS (Texas Optoelectronic Solutions, Inc.), the leading global supplier of intelligent light sensors, acquired in 2011.
ams, headquartered in Unterpremstaetten, Austria, is a leading global designer and manufacturer of high performance analog ICs that provides innovative analog solutions to the most challenging applications in sensors and sensor interfaces, power management and wireless. ams’ products are aimed at applications which require high accuracy, wide dynamic range, sensitivity, and immunity to noise or ultra-low power consumption.
The company builds on more than 30 years of operation in analog semiconductors and is responsible for numerous breakthroughs in applications such as magnetic encoders, medical imaging, power management, low-power RF, optical sensing, audio amplification, and battery sensing. ams draws on this experience, and on the unique CMOS, High Voltage CMOS and SiGe fabrication processes it has developed, to create new high-performance standard products and ASICs targeting the consumer and communications, industrial, medical, and automotive markets all around the globe.
John Heugle, CEO of ams, said: “Today is an exciting day for all the employees of ams, because it marks the start of a new, single entity – the combination of two very successful names, austriamicrosystems and TAOS, into one new brand and one identity which is even greater than the sum of its parts.”
ams develops and manufactures high performance analog semiconductors that solve its customers’ most challenging problems with innovative solutions. ams’ products are aimed at applications which require extreme precision, accuracy, dynamic range, sensitivity, and ultra-low power consumption. ams’ product range includes sensors, sensor interfaces, power management ICs and wireless ICs for customers in the consumer, industrial, medical, mobile communications and automotive markets.
With headquarters in Austria, ams employs over 1,200 people globally and serves more than 6,500 customers worldwide. ams is listed on the SIX Swiss stock exchange (ticker symbol: AMS). More information about ams can be found at www.ams.com.
