The International Association of Healthcare Professionals has carefully Lewis C. Cummings, MD, FAAP, to represent pediatrics in their publication, The Leading Physicians of the World. Dr. Cummings’ selection is a significant representation of his passion and dedication for the field of pediatrics.  He is considered to be one of the best among his 43 years in practice.

Dr. Cummings graduated in 1969 from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, and then continued his education at Mercy Hospital and Baylor Affiliated Hospital for his internship and residency.  Since its inception approximately 75 years ago, Louisiana State School of Medicine has continued their deep commitment to serving all patients, particularly the underserved; they are affiliated with the LSUHSC Health Care Services Division, which consists of nine hospitals throughout the state.  His inspiring experiences there were the catalysts to his outstanding work in Lafayette, Louisiana today.

Dr. Cummings is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.  A devoted doctor in his field, Dr. Cummings holds a Fellowship in the American Academy of Pediatrics; as well as being a Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Louisiana State University and a Professor at Tulane University.  He currently works as a Pediatrician at his own practice, Lewis C. Cummings, MD, APMC located in Louisiana.  In addition to his practice, Dr. Cummings works at the Lafayette General Medical Center.  Lafayette General is the region’s only community-owned and managed hospital that evolved from a six-bed facility that opened in 1911 called Lafayette Sanitarium.
