Lansdowne to the distinguished ranks of leading professionals as a result of her exceptional entrepreneurial effort in three different industries. As Owner of Artful Retreat and Art for Happiness as well as throughout her brilliant professional career, Mila has consistently displayed the passion, vision, and dedication necessary to be considered among the best.
Established in 2000, Artful Retreat is a Bed & Breakfast located in the Northern Rockies that provides a peaceful and serene setting for business travelers and vacationers alike. The establishment offers two queen size bed rooms and one double bed room plus a new queen-size-bed studio suite. Artful Retreat also houses a large dining room and living room as well as a sun deck. The surrounding area allows guests to enjoy nature’s majesty at Monkman Provincial Park and many other natural wonders.
In 2006 Mila established Art for Happiness, which is a company that imports art supplies from Germany and Silk from China. Art for Happiness provides clients in the art industry of North America, New Zealand and Australia with Silk painting materials and a new product for the swirling of guitars called Magic Marble. In 2009 an art-studio manufacturer was added to the company’s portfolio. Mila as a designer, with the assistance of two helpers, produces empowering art products that are sold in wholesale to galleries and gift shops. The products include greeting cards, bookmarks, silk scarves and art books. The new team has also completed several large projects in developing custom designs for corporate clients. More than 100 silk scarves per contract were painted one by one with a unique design to the client’s complete satisfaction.
Driven by a vision of helping others be creative, Mila skillfully coordinates the benefits of her ventures with her professional work as an Artist, writer and educator. Over the years Mila has guided creative workshops, retreats, school- and community projects and more, all aimed towards inspiring the creative process through easy to follow silk painting methods suitable for both children and adults.
During her collegiate career, Mila earned a Bachelor of Trade Commerce degree in Retail Trade. She is a member of the Canadian Tour Guide Association of British Columbia, South Peace Art Society, Northern Rockies Alaska Highway Tourism Association, Okanagan Valley Entrepreneur Society, Art Starts in Schools and the Island Mountain Art Society.
