Austart Homes Cairns is a company that is involved in the building of new homes in the far north section of Queensland. As part of the Austart Homes franchise which was established in 2002, Austart Homes Cairns offers clients the choice of three ranges of homes, including the Fitzroy, the Premier Plus and the Sovereign. Each home, no matter what style, is constructed to the same high quality standards.

Grant, who is responsible for managing all major aspects of the business as well as overseeing the daily operations, began his career in the field in 1981, completing an apprenticeship in Carpentry & Joinery through the Master Builders Association of Victoria. His dedication to the building trade and pride of workmanship was quite evident when he was awarded the coveted Apprentice of the Year Award in his second year and was also runner up in his final year, gaining extensive experience in new home construction, home extension, and commercial construction. For the next 16 years, Mr. Hartwig served as the Construction Manager of large commercial projects, in charge of building hospitals, schools and supermarkets throughout regional Victoria.

Grant’s desire to return to the more exacting and detailed work of new building brought him and his family to Cairns in 2000. He was employed by Newstart Homes NQ Pty Ltd initially as a building supervisor, then estimator and later promoted to Cairns area manager. In 2003, the opportunity to purchase the Austart Homes Cairns franchise presented itself and Grant grabbed it, working diligently running the company ever since. He is actively involved in managing sales, finances, advertising, marketing and estimations for the franchise, as well as being in charge of displaying the properties.
