Mr. Schmidt’s leadership as Executive Director of PROCOM Consultants for the past 7 years, has lent heavily to the creation and development of conventional oil, gas, pyrolysis and gasification process technologies both domestically and on a global scale.
Over the course of his career Mr. Schmidt has filled positions in conceptual engineering, new process commissioning and general management, including his position as GM of Southern Pacific Petroleum Development. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering (Honours) from the University of Queensland, Brisbane QLD and an MBA from the University of New England, Armadale, NSW. He is skilled in technology development and first of a kind plant commissioning and operations management. Jim’s wide ranges of experience in engineering and managerial application, along with his impressive education, have collectively played significant roles in the progression of his professional career.
Delivering specialized engineering design, R&D, commissioning and operations management solutions to oil and gas utilities, the energy sector and the mining and minerals industries, Jim Schmidt and his business partner, Steve Yeardley founded PROCOM Consultants on the basis of providing comprehensive consulting services in process engineering, project management, process modeling and commissioning services.
Together with a special network of engineers and operations professionals, Mr. Schmidt has further established PROCOM as a niche process engineering and developmental service provider. As such Jim’s focus remains on building a strong engineering organization to support the engineering and development needs for the oil and gas industry in Queensland and Australia as well as internationally for Oil Shale by creating opportunity for the next generation of engineers.
Aside from Mr. Schmidt’s involvement in the professional arena his personal commitment to the community includes supporting the local University student education and placement programs through vocational work. He is also a member of the Institute of Energy.
