WAILUKU, HI, February 1, 2012 /Stanford Who’s Who/ — Al Harty has been accepted into the prestigious ranks of Stanford Who’s Who as a result of his exceptional effort in the arts. As President of the Lahaina Arts Society, as well as throughout his brilliant professional career, Mr. Harty has routinely exhibited the passion, vision and dedication necessary to be considered among the best.
Lahaina Arts Society is an organization dedicated to supporting local artists launching their careers around Maui. The Society maintains two galleries in the Old Lahaina Courthouse building and sponsors several outdoor Fine Art Fairs under the historic Banyan Tree in Lahaina each month. Their charity, the Lahaina Arts Association (LAA), provides free weekly children’s art classes held in several different sites in Maui County. LAA annually awards partial scholarships to Maui high school students who are interested in art.
Mr. Harty is an accomplished Scuba Diver Divemaster, Chief Divemaster, Chief Instructor, ship diver, black coral diver, shell collector, and long distance ocean swimmer as well as an award winning undersea photographer. He is currently focused on nature and landscape photography and his work can be seen in the Old Lahaina Courthouse Galleries, and his displays at the Lahaina Arts Society, Banyan Tree Art Fairs. Al is also the author of Talks With Nature in Photographs and Narrative Poems, which is a colorful photography book, telling stories and adventures, with 75 narrative poems, about 170 unique photographs, undersea and on land.
