As CEO of Walter Sisulu Pediatric Cardiac Foundation, as well as throughout her brilliant professional career, Lynda has routinely demonstrated the vision, dedication and diligence necessary to be considered among the best.
Established in 2003, as a living memory to one of Africa’s most humble and effective leaders, the late Walter Sisulu, the Walter Sisulu Pediatric Cardiac Foundation is a philanthropic pediatric cardiac foundation, which aims to raise the necessary funds to pay for life saving surgery for underprivileged children with congenital heart disorders from across Africa. The organization also aims to develop diagnostic and treatment skills amongst Africa’s medical fraternity and conducts critical research into pediatric cardiac healthcare.
Lynda is responsible for implementing and developing the vision and mission of the organization as well as strategic sustainability planning. She has been the recipient of several awards due to her extraordinary work including winner of the “Most innovative woman in health and business 2008 from CEO magazine as well as being a finalist in the “Community Builders Award” 2008. Her leadership has secured many awards for the foundation including the Netcare Chairman Award in 2005; Pan African Award for Excellence in Health Care 2006/7, Mail and Guardian Award “Investing in the Future” in 2008; Edwards Lifesciences’ Celebration of Excellence Award in 2008; Gold Award from HASA in 2008; Gold Award from PRISM “Recognizing excellence in Public Relations” in 2009, 2010; Gold Award from HASA for promoting equity in Health in 2010 and a finalist in Discovery Health Care Excellence Awards 2011
During her collegiate career, Lynda earned diplomas in General Nursing, Midwifery and Neonatal ICU and a Bachelor’s degree in, Health Science Education and Community Health Science from the University of South Africa. She is completing her Master of Business Administration degree from the Regenesys Business School. Lynda is a member of the Child Accident Prevention Society, Resuscitation Council of South Africa, South African Nurses Council, Pediatric Cardiac Society of South Africa, and the World Congress of Congenital Heart Surgery.
Her vision is to be instrumental in collaborating networks with other paediatric cardiac foundations internationally that are supporting the plight of the cardiac child/baby in Africa to ensure that as many children as possible can receive corrective or interventive cardiac corrections.
Lynda is a creative, participative and energetic leader who believes in empowering people to achieve their maximum potential. She believes in the ACE principal of leadership namely A for attitude, C for commitment and E for enthusiasm.
Her proudest moments include: meeting Former President Nelson Mandela, patron of WSPCF, President Bill Clinton; HRH Princess Haya Bint al Hussein, global patron of WSPCF, UN messenger of peace, wife of HH Sheik Mohammed Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and vice president of UAE and working with the Sisulu family. Her most humble moments include meeting the mothers and children who benefit from the paediatric cardiac foundation – 530 to date from 25 countries in Africa!
