Gap, Target disappoint; Macy’s, others shine

U.S. retailers posted mixed December same-store sales on Thursday, as last-minute holiday shopping and stepped-up promotions competed against still budget conscious shoppers and warm weather that sapped demand for cold-weather merchandise.
