Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has stopped its operating system support for the controversial Carrier IQ software.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) announced in a statement that it has removed the Carrier IQ software from its latest iOS 5 for iPhones and iPads.
The company stopped supporting Carrier IQ after reports that it illegally collects personal information frm smartphone users.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) said in the statement, “We stopped supporting Carrier IQ with iOS 5 in most of our products and will remove it completely in a future software update. With any diagnostic data sent to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), customers must actively opt-in to share this information, and if they do, the data is sent in an anonymous and encrypted from and does not include any personal information. We never recorded keystrokes, messages or any other personal information for diagnostic data and have no plans to ever do so”.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shares were at 393.01 at the end of the last day’s trading. There’s been a 5.1% change in the stock price over the past 3 months.
