Apple has just released iOS 5.1 beta to iOS developers. This newly-seeded iOS 5.1 will be available for different Apple devices such as iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad, and third to fourth-generation iPod touch services.
This new OS for Apple dubbed as iOS 5.1 is meant to fix the bugs and inconsistencies that has been ongoing in Apple devices. One of the most popular bugs would be the battery glitch that has been bothering users since iOS 5 has been released. Though there is no concrete proof that the battery problem has been fixed, there are some rumors that attests to fixing this problem.
In order to know what to expect with iOS 5.1, here are some notable issues in developing this new code:
Accounts - Upon creating an iCloud account, users could utilize any Apple ID provided that it has a full email address and not a MobileMe account. If ever users would opt to use a MobileMe account, they need to move that account to iCloud. To learn more about this, click here
iCloud Storage - Provisioning profiles should be done for iCloud in the iOS Provisioning Portal. In order to do that, users should go to the App ID section of the iOS Provisioning Portal and configure their App ID for iCloud. After doing this, regenerate your provisioning profiles so that it would be enabled for iCloud. Files that are protected through Data Protection cannot be utilized with iCloud Storage APIs. The setSortDescriptors: method of NSMetadataQuery is not supported. In Mac OS X, file names are case-insensitive but with iOS 5.1, it is case-sensitive. Users should be careful when creating file names that are only different by case because it would pose as a problem when using iCloud.
GameKit - App icons as well as Profile Photos are not loading in apps through Game Center.
Music Player - Upon utilizing shake-to-shuffle, it causes Music app to freeze and playback to stop.
Security - Signing of certificates through MD5 is not supported in iOS 5. In order to do so, certificates should use signature algorithims based on SHA1 or SHA2.
