The US defense contractor Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) has introduced a new innovative wireless intrusion detection network.
The Self-Powered Ad-hoc Network (SPAN) system has been introduced to provide intelligent situational awareness and characterization.
The system uses “Field-and Forget” ground sensors and it has a touch screen interface to position the nodes.
Macy W. Summers, Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT) IS&GS-Defense vice president, said, “SPAN is a mesh network of self-organizing, self-healing sensors. The typical sensor fits in the palm of your hand and can be readily concealed in camouflage housings”.
