Visiting Angels of Apopka/Seminole/W.Volusia Co. announces the "Alzheimer's Caregiver Project'
PR Log - Aug 05, 2011 - Sanford, Florida – Visiting Angels Senior Homecare has partnered with Arden Courts Memory Care Community, and Accera, the makers of Axona. This partnership allows the “Alzheimer’s Caregiver Project” classes to be available at no cost to any Alzheimer’s or other related dementia caregiver in the community.
The “Alzheimer’s Caregiver Project” is a series of six classes addressing the unique issues of caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. The classes are once a month for six months and this series is starting August 16th, 2011 at the Seminole County Library System, Northwest Branch, 580 Greenway Blvd., Lake Mary, FL 32746.
The classes are modeled in order of what a caregiver will go through once their loved one is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or other related dementia. Professionals in each field will be presenting the classes: Memory Loss, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease: The Basics, Legal and Financial Matters, Choices of Care, Medications/Research, Surviving Challenging Behaviors/Communications, and the last class is the Virtual Dementia Tour.
Visiting Angels of Apopka/Seminole/W. Volusia Counties provides a range of helpful services, including specialized Alzheimer’s in home care, personal hygiene assistance, transportation to and from doctor's appointments, meal preparation, shopping and companionship, support groups, as well as providing respite for family caregivers.
