“We are excited to add these thirteen new funds to the AlphaDEX® family of ETFs, nearly doubling the existing line-up,” said Dan Waldron, Senior Vice President, Exchange-Traded Funds Strategist of First Trust. “The AlphaDEX® funds are designed to do what their name implies: generate Alpha, and we are pleased with their track record since the bottom of the market in February 2009,” he continued. “The nine new funds comprising the AlphaDEX® International line-up are a diverse group of broad, regional and single country funds. We believe the positive effects of globalization are going to continue for years to come and investors may benefit from a globally diversified investment portfolio, particularly in the emerging markets where GDP growth for 2011 is projected to be 6.4%, compared to 2.2% for advanced economies, according to the International Monetary Fund,” Waldron concluded.
About AlphaDEX® ETF product line
The AlphaDEX® ETF product line was initially launched in May of 2007. Prior to the addition of these 13 funds, the line-up consisted of 16 domestic funds with over $2.8 billion in assets currently under management. The entire First Trust family of ETFs has over $7.4 billion in assets as of 3/31/11.
The AlphaDEX® funds are designed to track the performance of a group of custom “enhanced” indexes which employ the proprietary, rules-based AlphaDEX® fundamental stock selection methodology. The AlphaDEX® methodology is relatively simple and uses only three growth factors and three value factors.
The index each AlphaDEX® fund tracks is designed to generate Alpha and provide a higher return than a traditional Beta index.

Principal Risk Factors
You should consider a fund’s investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses carefully before investing. Contact First Trust Portfolios L.P. at 1-800-621-1675 or visit www.ftportfolios.com to obtain a prospectus or summary prospectus which contains this and other information about a fund. The prospectus or summary prospectus should be read carefully before investing.
A fund’s shares will change in value, and you could lose money by investing in a fund. An investment in a fund involves risks similar to those of investing in any fund of equity securities traded on exchanges. One of the principal risks of investing in a fund is market risk. Market risk is the risk that a particular stock owned by a fund, fund shares or stocks in general may fall in value.
You should anticipate that the value of the shares will decline, more or less, in correlation with any decline in the value of the index. A fund’s return may not match the return of the index. A fund may not be fully invested at times. Securities held by a fund will generally not be bought or sold in response to market fluctuations and the securities may be issued by companies concentrated in a particular industry, region or country. A fund may invest in small capitalization and mid capitalization companies. Such companies may experience greater price volatility than larger, more established companies.
An investment in a fund containing equity securities of foreign issuers is subject to additional risks, including currency fluctuations, political risks, withholding, the lack of adequate financial information, and exchange control restrictions impacting foreign issuers. Risks associated with investing in foreign securities may be more pronounced in emerging markets where the securities markets are substantially smaller, less developed, less liquid, less regulated, and more volatile than the U.S. and developed foreign markets.
Investors buying or selling fund shares on the secondary market may incur customary brokerage commissions. Investors who sell fund shares may receive less than the share’s net asset value. Shares may be sold throughout the day on the exchange through any brokerage account. However, shares may only be redeemed directly from the fund by authorized participants, in very large creation/redemption units.
These funds are classified as “non-diversified.” A non-diversified fund generally may invest a larger percentage of its assets in the securities of a smaller number of issuers. As a result, the fund may be more susceptible to the risks associated with these particular companies, or to a single economic, political or regulatory occurrence affecting these companies.
