Barnes & Noble halts dividend to free up funds

Barnes & Noble’s suspending its quarterly dividend, a move to enable more money to be pumped into its digital strategy and perhaps acquire a “handful” of the 200 Borders bookstores slated to close down. The retailer’s shares beat a retreat.
