Hong Kong leads Asia up; miners hold back Sydney

Asian stocks end mostly higher in holiday-thinned trade Wednesday, with Hong Kong and Shanghai markets rebounding as investors looked past China’s rate increase Saturday to snap up banks and commodity shares.
