hese donations, both corporate and employee generated, were primarily channeled through the company's "BEAR (Bluegreen Employee Action Resource) Team" which is dedicated to supporting and enriching Bluegreen's culture in Boca Raton by continuously improving associate morale through engaging social activities and recognition programs. In addition, they support non-profit organizations, as well as charitable events and activities, as important ways to give back to the communities in which Bluegreen does business and to the people and organizations that patronize their businesses.
Employees are encouraged to volunteer and contribute donations through the BEAR Team. Ellen Devine, Executive Assistant to the President/CEO and head of the BEAR Team, says that this remarkable $1,000,000.00 milestone was only achieved through the active involvement of all Bluegreen associates and their families.
"Leading this volunteer team and raising these kinds of monies for these two worthwhile organizations has been quite an accomplishment," said Devine. "We as a company are so very passionate about the philanthropic culture we have created here at Bluegreen. It makes us all feel real good to do such great things for Christel House and JDRF and for all the other charitable organizations that we touch." Founded in 1998 by Christel DeHaan, Christel House aims to break the cycle of poverty for children around the world through educational programs, life-skills training, character development and self-esteem. Bluegreen has managed to raise over $450,000 in donations through voluntary payroll deductions, golf tournaments, raffles and various activities at their timeshare resorts across the country.
JDRF was founded in 1970 by parents of children with juvenile diabetes and has raised more than $800 million for cutting-edge diabetes research including 500 centers, grants and fellowships in 19 countries. Bluegreen has raised over $650,000 in donations through employee contributions, raffles, golf tournaments and more.
Bluegreen takes pride in its community involvement which includes various other programs including the SOS Children's Villages, the Junior Achievement Program of South Florida, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation®, the American Red Cross® as well as many environmental protection and conservation programs that have since earned Bluegreen Corporation recognition both locally and nationally.
