BRANTFORD, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 12/01/10 -- Wescast Industries Inc. (TSX: WCS.A) today announced further expansion plans for both its Asian and European facilities. For some time, Wescast has been a leader in developing and supplying metallurgical solutions for its customers. The planned expansions will enable its facility in Wuhan, China to produce stainless steel castings and its facility in Oroszlany, Hungary to produce Ni-Resist and stainless steel castings in addition to the multiple alloys already produced at each of the facilities.
"Market trends of increased turbo charger usage were the impetus for Wescast to plan these investments", stated Ed Frackowiak, Chairman and CEO. "We are very pleased to have booked more than $100M in average annualized new and replacement business year-to-date across all of our business units, of which more than 35 percent is related to turbo chargers."
The expansion plans complement the company's strategy of providing a full range of materials to its customers in all geographic regions supported by its business units. The investments required to provide these materials in the respective business units will be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2011.
