HotDocs Corporation (http://www.hotdocs.com), the market leader in document automation and assembly technology, today announced a change in its server-based product lineup. HotDocs Server 10 (http://www.hotdocs.com/Server10-View.aspx), which enables web-based deployment of HotDocs templates, will no longer be sold separately, but will now be bundled with three pre-built web applications.
In order to generate custom documents on the web, HotDocs Server 10 must be deployed with a web application, commonly referred to as a "host." A host acts as an interface for accessing and organizing HotDocs templates. "In the past, HotDocs Server customers had several options: build a custom host to meet the exact specifications for their enterprise, or choose one of the three off-the-shelf hosts, which were sold separately," commented Leonard DuCharme, Marketing VP at HotDocs Corporation. "The decision to bundle the hosts with HotDocs Server 10 is an effort to simplify the sales process, both for us and for customers."
The three hosts are HotDocs Template Portal, HotDocs Workspace, and HotDocs Workspace for SharePoint. HotDocs Template Portal is a simple menuing system and is mainly designed to transition desktop users to the web, since it functions much like the desktop application HotDocs User 10. HotDocs Workspace (previously named Flexible Document Platform) takes a transaction-oriented approach using "work items" to manage HotDocs users, groups, and content (work items contain one or more assembled documents and the answers used to produce those documents). HotDocs Workspace for SharePoint enables the assembly of templates within a SharePoint(R) site while integrating with many of SharePoint's built-in features.
The new HotDocs Workspace for SharePoint will be released in November 2010.
