Attorney Jodi Littman Tomaszewski, Partner at Dworken & Bernstein Co., L.P.A., Painesville/Cleveland, Ohio received the Ohio State Bar Foundation's District 18 Award for Community Service by Lawyers Forty and Under. Ms. Tomaszewski is a volunteer for the United Way of Lake County where she serves as co-chairperson of the Campaign Cabinet for the Attorney Division. She is active with the Lake County Bar Association, serving on the Golf Outing Committee and co-chairing the Law Day Committee. She is also active with Dworken & Bernstein's nonprofit initiative, Ohio Lawyers Give Back. When money is left on the table from class action settlements, it often reverts back to the wrong doers. Jodi advocates for the monies to instead be distributed to charities. "Lawyers get such a bad rap she says. This is one way we can change our image while doing some good for others."
This award is presented to attorneys, 40 years of age or younger, who contribute substantial time and effort in service to a local social service, or a local civic, artistic or cultural organization. The service must be outside the recipients' practice of law and must be given without compensation. Emphasis is placed on current service. Recipients should represent the ideals of the legal profession and, by example, be a credit to the profession.
Ms. Tomaszewski has offices in Painesville and Cleveland, and practices in the areas of general business, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and commercial litigation.
