Asian markets end mostly up; Tokyo reverses course

Tokyo bucks a generally bullish trend for stocks in Asia, unable to sustain earlier gains as investors fretted about prospects for higher capital requirements for Japanese banks. Hong Kong and Sydney both show gains in the vicinity of 1%.
