SAND Technology Inc. (OTCBB: SNDTF), an international provider of enterprise information management solutions, today announced that it is working with TopEnd Technology, Inc. to implement the SAND/DNA Analytics(TM) product at NHN Corporation in Korea as the core component of a data warehouse system supporting analysis of Internet portal usage. NHN Corporation -- described recently in BusinessWeek magazine as one of the "hottest Internet search companies on earth" -- is Korea's premier Internet company, operating the Naver search portal and Hangame game portal. TopEnd, a leading supplier of information lifecycle management solutions to the Korean market, is a reseller partner working with SAND to meet the growing demand for information management solutions in the Asia-Pacific region.
SAND/DNA Analytics brings an unprecedented degree of performance and flexibility to existing data warehouse systems and enterprise data stores. All the data, down to the most detailed level, is available for querying immediately after it is loaded, permitting quick and easy access by business users employing industry-standard business intelligence tools or methods. Because SAND/DNA Analytics does not require indexing, it is faster to prototype and set up, more responsive to changing business requirements, and quicker to respond to complex user queries.
NHN is rapidly gaining attention as one of Asia's top technology companies, having rolled out a wide range of innovative online services, and has emerged as the largest company in the tech-heavy KOSDAQ market in terms of market capitalization. "NHN's Internet search portal generates a tremendous amount of log data everyday, and in order to guide development of improved services for our users, it's critical that we analyze this data very quickly," said Kim Dong-Wook, Chief Data Analyst for NHN. "Our previous system required a large amount of data preprocessing to keep query response times at an acceptable level. We chose a solution based on the SAND/DNA Analytics high-performance engine because it lets us get answers to queries in near-real time, optimizes usage of our system resources, and increases the productivity of our expert data analysts."
The SAND solution allows NHN's analysts to start working with web log data immediately after it is loaded into the system, without the need for preprocessing. The result is improved user services, dramatically reduced response time for complex ad hoc queries, storage cost savings, optimized resource utilization, and a two- to three-fold improvement in productivity.
"We are pleased to partner with SAND in offering advanced information management technology to customers such as NHN and a growing list of others in the Asia-Pacific region," said Shin Dong-Won, CEO of TopEnd Technology. "We chose to distribute SAND's solutions because no other solution can so effectively manage extensive data stores or provide such fast access to data in enterprise environments and large data warehouses. We look forward to a continuing partnership, with SAND solutions forming a critical part of our product portfolio to meet the growing demand for intelligent information management solutions in the Asia-Pacific region."
"Organizations in all industries are generating massive amounts of data every day," said Jerry Shattner, executive vice president, marketing and corporate alliances, SAND Technology. "We are excited that SAND/DNA Analytics was selected by TopEnd and NHN as the core data management platform for this critical data warehouse project. TopEnd continues to be an important partner for SAND, as we provide a growing number of companies in the Asia-Pacific region with the ability to manage and use data in the most efficient way possible."
