(PRLEAP.COM) Santa Rosa, Ca. Move over Bernoulli there’s a new theory in town!
There are actually several theories in liquid dynamics that easily explain why The Winefall’s unique action makes it more effective than the alternatives. The WineFall Ultimate wine aerators’ increase surface area in order to decrease surface tension, similar to the action behind your favorite decanter. Science suggests that when the surface area is maximized by consistent flow over a smooth surface, especially a curved surface, the surface area increases and the surface tension decreases creating gaps between the wine molecules. These gaps allow the exchange of Ethanol for Oxygen. What does all this science mean? In short, a more aromatic wine, with fuller, softer mouthfeel.
So what about Glass vs. plastic? Gentle vs. cyclonic? If we are not encouraged or inclined to drink our wine from a plastic cup…then we can surmise that glass would make more sense, that is simple enough. Also, Pyrex glass, which is what The WineFall is made from; is stain resistant.
As far as, Gentle vs. cyclonic, well the obvious choice for an older delicate wine would certainly be the gentler action as opposed to mixing or bubble blowing or even reverse osmosis with magnets’.

" When dealing with highly concentrated red wines that need even more aeration than a single decanting provides, there are a number of gadgets specifically designed to aerate wine."
"…My favorite such device, which works better and is more attractive, is called The WineFall, a hand-blown glass "tube" with a series of layers developed by Sonoma County wine marketer Pete Nudi and glass artist Tom Hassur. The WineFall aerates wine more efficiently than can be done by splashing the wine back and forth between two decanters for a half hour. Wine is poured into the top of The WineFall, and the liquid sluices layer-to-layer through the glass into the waiting decanter below.
The effect is not only stimulating to the taste buds, but it also aerates the wine in a way I haven’t seen any other device achieve. For the wine lover and collector with all the accoutrements’ of the trade, this is one device that may be used more frequently than all the others. "…read about it on the Internet or watch a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DYjmQea1wQ) and you may be convinced it’s worth the investment."
Hands down the favorite seems to be The WineFall. Also worth mentioning, The WineFall is hand crafted in Sonoma County, making each one a collectors’ item and for a mere $99 retail for The WineFall (smaller version) and $200 for The WineFall Ultimo the price is nominal as it is truly a superior item in every way…!
In closing, it can be similar to the evolution of one’s palate, or graduating from dollar stems to crystal stems from Austria and in the case of The WineFall, one not only graduates from gadget to tool, it is clearly one step closer to that beautiful veraison from wine lover into full blown oenophiliac!
