After Friday's Bell Market Commentary

On Friday, the markets closed mixed. Crude-oil futures closed lower with the April contract losing 1.59, or 2.6%, to $60.05 a barrel. Gold futures finished lower but were up for the week. The dollar rose 0.8% against the yen and 0.2% vs. the euro. Investors continue to worry about the subprime mortgage market. The Labor Department reported the U.S. economy created the fewest jobs in two years, even as the unemployment rate fell to 4.5%. The U.S. economy added 97,000 jobs in February. The Commerce Department said the U.S. trade gap narrowed by 3.8 percent in January to $59.1 billion as U.S. exports climbed and imports fell. The Dow Jones gained 15.62 points, or 0.13 percent, to end at 12,276.32. The Nasdaq Composite dipped 0.18 of a point, or 0.01 percent, to close at 2,387.55. Standard & Poor's 500 inched up 0.96 of a point, or 0.07 percent, to finish at 1,402.85. The Russell 2000 added 4 points to close at 785.
