TriGeo Network Security (www.trigeo.com), a pioneer and leading provider of security information management (SIM) solutions for the mid-market, today announced that USS-POSCO Industries (UPI), a steel-finishing plant and a joint venture company established by U.S. Steel Corporation and POSCO of the Republic of Korea, has selected TriGeo's Security Information Management product to protect against security threats on UPI's wireless network.
UPI has installed the TriGeo Security Information Manager (SIM) to provide IT Managers with instant notifications of any modifications to administrative accounts. The TriGeo SIM will also track potential security risks and attacks on UPI's corporate wireless network. The TriGeo SIM is the industry's only network security appliance that automatically identifies, notifies and responds to network attacks, suspicious behavior and policy violations.
Using TriGeo's innovative USB-DefenderÂ, UPI will be able to log USB device insertions, capture device details, and disable user accounts, or even quarantine workstations to prevent information leakage or worm propagation.
"We set up a wireless network about a year ago and we needed a tool to help us identify and correlate security events and network activities, and, if needed, take proactive actions to stop malicious or undesirable activities," said Mr. Kit Pho, information systems manager for UPI. "We selected TriGeo for its real time log analysis with event correlation, the ability to track the use of administrative accounts, pre-built rules based event correlations, TriGeo's unique USB defender technology, and the fact that the TriGeo SIM product has been honored as SC magazine Best Buy SIM tool, were key factors in our decision to choose TriGeo.
"UPI represents a new breed of company that seeks to use proactive network security to protect their corporate information assets from internal and external threats," said Michelle Dickman, chief executive office, TriGeo Network Security. "The added benefits of our SIM product assist UPI with its compliance requirements in addition to preventative security measures. They are using our product to not only solve a critical business problem but to also turn their security information management practice into a critical corporate resource."
"We wanted an appliance that provides proactive security and trying to correlate an event on servers' logs is not an option for UPI," added Mr. Pho. "We don't have the resources and time to find the needle in the hay stack. Now we have a tool that can pinpoint the problem and provide solutions.
TriGeo provides instant notifications of modifications to administrative accounts and hundreds of pre-built rules-based event correlations, which was critical for UPI. The company's list of awards and positive product reviews from several industry peer-reviewed publications also played a role in the selection of TriGeo.
USS-POSCO Industries (UPI), a joint venture company established by U.S. Steel Corporation and POSCO, of the Republic of Korea, is a steel finishing plant. UPI manufactures galvanized and tin plate coated steel products.
