Stocks Rebound, Close Narrowly Mixed; Volume Falls
Stocks stumbled early but bounced back in late trading to close narrowly mixed Monday. Moody's threat of a credit-rating downgrade for the U.S., the U.K. and other nations, combined with a higher dollar and jitters over financial reform, pressured stocks. But in a sign of resilience, the major indexes rallied sharply in the final 90 minutes to close near session highs. The Dow rose 0.2%, thanks largely to Wal-Mart's (WMT) 3% gain. Citigroup
