Energy Stocks Gain Ahead Of Fundamentals
The energy sector took a hit Wednesday as crude prices slipped below $80 a barrel for the first time in two weeks. The dip followed a surge in weekly supply data. Cold weather boosted demand and drew down heating oil stockpiles. But oil and gasoline inventories went the other direction, largely due to the arrival of imports previously held out at sea "due to end-of-year tax considerations," according to Platts Oilgram.
