Prudence Leith Elected to the Board of Orient-Express Hotels Ltd

HAMILTON, Bermuda, June 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. (NYSE:OEH), owners and operators of 49 deluxe leisure properties in 25 countries, today announced that Prudence M. Leith, OBE, DL has been elected to the Board of Directors at the Company's Annual General Meeting of Shareholders.

Ms Leith was the founder, owner and Managing Director of Leith's Group which, from 1960 until its sale in 1995 to Accor, grew to encompass restaurants, a prestigious London chef school, contract catering and event and party catering. She has served on the boards of British Railways, Whitbread plc, Halifax plc and Safeway plc, and is currently a non-executive director on the boards of Woolworths (retailing), Omega International (kitchen furnishings and equipment) and Nations Healthcare (healthcare services). She is also a noted restaurateur, television broadcaster and author and holds a number of awards and honours including several honorary doctorates, the Order of the British Empire, Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London and Veuve Cliquot Business Woman of the Year, 1990.

James Sherwood said that Ms. Leith replaces D.J. O'Sullivan, who did not stand for re-election to the board as he was representing the interests of the company's former parent which no longer is a shareholder. Mr Sherwood said the company would greatly benefit from Ms. Leith's extensive experience in the hospitality industry.

There are six other members of Orient-Express Hotels' Board of Directors: John D. Campbell, James B. Hurlock, J.Robert Lovejoy , Georg R. Raphael, James B.Sherwood, Chairman of the Company and Simon M.C. Sherwood, President of the Company.

Orient-Express Hotels was founded in 1976 with the purchase of the Hotel Cipriani in Venice and was later incorporated as Orient-Express Hotels Ltd., a Bermuda company. Orient-Express Hotels Ltd was floated on the New York Stock Exchange in August, 2000. In 2005, the last full year for which figures are available, Orient-Express Hotels had net earnings of $40.7 million on revenue of $447.7 million.
